Description
Machines, being inorganic, oppose the warmth of humanity. Yet, they are born from us, and depend on us to bring them to life.
Living Machines is an interactive spatial installation that delves into the intersection of machines and the organic world. In today’s tech-centric society, where smartphones shape our routines, technology is often our first connection to the world.
With their sensors and motors, the installation’s post-organic machines mimic life’s basic functions. They exist in a standby state, breathing and pulsing with a semblance of life, their lights mimicking breaths as their limb-like branches sway.
As you engage with the machines, they seem to come alive, spreading their limbs as if welcoming you. Through machines that teeter between the organic and the inorganic, Living Machines invites you to question your relationship with the machine.
How does the human experience shape living machines, and what do machine lives offer in return? Just as we are living machines, they are a part of our life, living and breathing with our interaction and engagement.
