Over the past 20 to 25 years, this area has transformed from an oil palm plantation into a vibrant residential area, home to approximately 700 households.

An area rich with history, nature and culture, one of its most renowned landmarks is the Minor Basilica of St. Anne, whose origin can be traced back to as early as 1833. The annual Feast of St. Anne draws visitors from near and far, adding to the community’s vibrant cultural tapestry. Nearby areas like Cherok To’kun and Bukit Seraya house a vacant dam and reservoir from the British administration era—popular spots for hikers to breathe the fresh air and gaze at scenic views.Ling’s rich and versatile career includes international collaborations, residencies and experiences in festivals such as Avignon Fringe Festival, Brighton International Arts Festival, Kunsten Festival de Arts and more. Through her visionary leadership, she has curated events such as the Kakiseni International Arts Festival and the Day out of Time Online Arts Festival.

LOCAL ARTISTS 

Fairuz Sulaiman

An interdisciplinary artist from Selangor, Fairuz works with both digital and analogue visual formats. His practice includes creating visuals for large displays and building facades to complement performance art, theatre productions, and live music events. As the Co-Director of the Digital Art+Culture (DA+C) Festival, a regional media arts festival focused on heritage and culture, Fairuz is dedicated to blending traditional and contemporary art forms. His ongoing project; Sekolah Main Wayang, features a series of wayang performance workshops designed for underprivileged and marginalised youths, aiming to empower them by centering their stories.

William Koong

A visionary multidisciplinary sculptor born in Ipoh and currently based in Klang, William is renowned for his transformative artistry. His works, which can be found in Puteri Harbour (Johor), Central Market (Kuala Lumpur), and Subang Ria Park (Selangor), showcase his specialisation in repurposing metal waste from old car parts and construction materials. Often transcending conventional boundaries, his pieces embody a fusion of steampunk, fantasy, and science fiction elements, creating a captivating blend of the industrial and the imaginative.

Forrest Wong

Born in 1990, from Seremban, Negeri Sembilan. Forrest has been actively creating work that intertwines his personal history with imagination. His works challenge conventional boundaries and invite viewers to explore the irrational and nonsensical before reaching a full understanding. He received his Bachelor of Art in Sculpture from the Institute of Art Indonesia (ISI) and co-founded P(art)Y LAB in 2016. Forrest was a finalist for Malaysia’s Bakat Muda Sezaman Award in 2019, participated in the Japan Setouchi Triennale, and exhibited in New York.
