Producers are familiar and ever-present in credits lists, like silent architects crafting your favourite arts projects. But have you ever wondered what a producer actually does?
In this two-hour sharing session, attendees will hear from June Tan, a producer from Five Arts Centre, a collective of Malaysian artists, activists and producers dedicated to generating alternative art forms in the contemporary arts landscape. She will share her thoughts and experiences from being a producer of performing arts in Malaysia.
June will offer insights into the role and importance of producers in arts projects, as well as outline the important elements of a cohesive and effective arts proposal. Attendees will also learn budgeting tips and long-term practices for sustainability that will enrich their arts producing careers moving forward.
